OMG... DUMBEST BOOKS EVER! I can't believe I wasted money on these! The only reason I read book #2 was to find out who died. The characters were 22-years old, but I swear, I was reading about 14-year olds and does he like me? Bryce is the town mayor's "golden child", the high school quarterback, the popular guy. He turns down a full-ride football scholarship to Notre Dame to join the Marines. Lexi is the quiet wallflower who's had a crush on Bryce her whole life. She's also best friends with Luke, who lives next door. Lexi and Luke... even as 22-year olds, have sleepovers in the same bed but they're just friends. Bryce's mayor dad is the town whore and has multiple affairs. Turns out Bryce and Lexi have a sister as Bryce's dad had an affair with Lexi's mom four years ago. Ewww! And... turns out Luke and Bryce are brothers as Bryce's dad slept with Luke's biological mom. Ewwww! Lexi writes secret letters to Bryce while in the Marines but doesn't tell him who they're from. So when Bryce returns and Lexi tells him, they're immediately soul mates and in love. Oh yeah, but Bryce sleeps with Lexi's best friend, Anna, that night. And... Lexi, Anna and Luke are all virgins at age 22. Not that there's anything wrong with that... but Lexi and Anna both lose their virginity to Bryce within a matter of days. Then a few days afterwards, Luke confesses he's in love with Lexi and loses his virginity with Lexi. Bryce and Lexi realize they're really not soul mates after all, that Lexi and Luke are, and Bryce and Anna are. It was just all icky and gross and way too intertwined on the family tree! Save your money and pass on these.

I thought they were both written by an author, J S that I really like. Scarred and Healed were the two worst books I've ever read. I read them both just to give an honest opinion. They were written by a 13 year old girl about a 22 year old young woman with the mentally of a 13 year old. The story line was OK but very juvenile. Whoever put this book together knew nothing about paragraphs and sentences. All of the verbiage in the book was jumbled together with no paragraph endings, just starting a new sentence on the next line. It was a good thing they were short books so I could force myself to read to the end. I'll be really careful next time I pick books with similar author names.
This book was just okay. SPOILERS While I think that Luke was the right choice for Lexi instead of Bryce, the way she achieved this epiphany was unrealistic to me. I mean, really -- a psychic pointed her in the right direction? Other incidents that seemed a bit unbelievable in the last book Bryce was indifferent to the news that he and Lexi shared a half sister born from the affair between his father and her mother. In this book, he very rapidly does a complete reversal and wants to adopt Shelby (the half sister). Such a change of heart could happen but the speed at which he underwent this total change of mind/heart was too quick to be realistic, as far as I am concerned. While Lexi's decision to be with Luke instead was more believable because she'd known him and had a connection to him for years, Bryce's realization that he didn't love Lexi after all and was attracted to Anna instead felt rushed. Honestly, I think these two books could have been plotted more carefully and combined into one. I love the other books I've read by this author so far, but these definitely don't represent her best efforts. I will continue to try other titles by her since the others I've read have been very good.
WARNING BOOK 1 & 2 SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

I should have just stopped after reading Scarred because Healed did not make Bryce's betrayal of Lexi by sleeping with her best friend, Abby, any better. It actually made it worse! I know, how can that be?...

After the finding out about Bryce's betrayal, Lexi talks with a psychic and then a butterfly tells her she should pick Luke. So, of course, she does and sleeps with him right away. But Luke is hiding something too. He knows that Shelby is the half-sister of Bryce and Lexi through their parents' affair. He continues to keep the secret because Bryce asks him to. But Luke has an even deeper secret Shelby, Bryce AND Luke all have the same dad! So, Lexi sleeps with her sister's brothers a day apart. Which is even more disturbing because she was a twenty-two year-old virgin two days before. Oh, and don't forget the fact that her best friend, Abby (another virgin), also slept with Bryce the day before Lexi did. But, hey, that's okay now because Bryce and Abby are going to end up together and raise Shelby! Everyone's just one big happy family and no one cares anymore.

I'm sorry, but that's all just nuts to me. I was really hoping things were going to get back on track with Healed. I really enjoyed the first half of Scarred and, besides the craziness of this entire story, J.S. Cooper is really a good writer. I hate writing a poor review, but I just can't get beyond all the nearly incestuous connections. I feel like the story ended up being way more complex than it needed to be.
I honestly don't know were to start. The whole story had my head spinning and not in a good way. There is so much going on that every normal person would roll up in bed and don't leave the house for days. I like story's with some twists and turns, but what you get served here is way over my head. SPOILER ..................... The first book started out good but the second book can't deliver. First Lexi finally is with the guy she always dreamed of, then he cheats on her with her best friend. But he loves her and feels bad about it. The next second she realizes that she always had feelings for her best friend Luke and jumps in bed with him after losing her Virginity to Bryce. That happens the same day Bryce lost his mother. Bryce then connects with Amy and feels all the sudden this strong connection to her. The story jumps from one major twist to another, there is no real storyline that would help to understand and feel for the People in this book.

Safe your Money People and listen to your gut about bad reviews. Not every Bad review is justified I get that and a lot has to do with taste, but bad writing has nothing to do with taste for a storyline itself. And this story could of be really really good.
