I'm currently finishing this book (last chapter) and i have to admit, I am highly disappointed in this one. It starts off fast paced and as soon as we meet our characters, it maintains that fast paced, rushed format, even going so far as to have Riley opt not to go on an overseas vacation for a woman who is jerking him around. First Tasha hates him, then she pines, then she loves him, then she pushes him away, etc and not all in that order. The villain is confusing, they possessively address Tasha, but we randomly find out they don't actually want tasha but someone else instead, but it never really addresses why only Tasha is possessively targeted.Even the ending, as I'm reading the last chapter feels rushed and all over the place. There is no real connection between the two main characters and feels as if they are forcing these feelings. The first two in the series were fantastic, but this one I pretty much skimmed through

Justify Me A Stark International/Masters and Mercenaries Novella Lexi Blake Crossover Collection Book 3 edition by J Kenner Lexi Blake Romance eBooks Reviews
This was a book in a crossover between two series "Stark International and Masters & Mercenaries" . Riley Blade is a bodyguard for Ian Taggart who is one of my favorite characters. While on his way to` China he stops off in LA to do a favor for Ryan Hunter of Stark Riley is no stranger to LA he worked for the FBI swat team in LA. he even consulted on a film with a hot Hollywood mega star Lyle Tarpin’s whose personal assistant makes his blood boil when Lyle calls looking for a bodyguard for her he changes his plan because no one but him will be guarding her. Natasha Black has a stalker that she is trying to forget about and she was mad when her boss called the one man that makes her hot. Turns out these two have history Riley use to work with her father and he even asked her out she turned him down. Riley left LA after an operation he was working on went south and they lost a team member who turned out to be her father. This was a really good read that I wished was longer. I have read a few books in the Stark Trilogy and this book reminded me that I have to get back into. The sex between these two were hot while visiting a BDSM club Natasha found what she was missing and when she went with Riley she knew he was the man for her. I love reading Masters & Mercenaries series and I am glad that the bodyguards are finding love. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am ooking forward to reading the next book.
I am such a fan of the Stark series and all the spinoff of that series that I've read every one of them! This novella does not disappoint even though we don't get any updates on Damien and Nikki. But we get to read about Ryan and Jamie a little bit. And we get to read about 2 characters that were introduced in Lyle Talpin's story.
McKay-Taggart operative Riley Blade was a consultant on Lyle's last film in Los Angeles but is ready to get out of town. He wants Natasha Black, Lyle's assistant, but she keeps rejecting him so he feels there's no reason to be there and he doesn't like LA. However, when Lyle asks Riley for a referral for a bodyguard and Riley finds out it is for Natasha, he takes it upon himself to do the job. It seems that Natasha has a stalker ever since she, Lyle, (Sugar) Laine, and Matthew Holt went to a BDSM club, Firehouse, to for research into Lyle's next movie.
There has always been an attraction between Natasha and Riley but Natasha has constantly turned Riley down. We come to find out that the two have a history together but even that finally doesn't stop the 2 from acting on their feelings for each other. And it is totally of the chart hot as they go back to Firehouse to try and get Natasha's stalker to come out but the trip to Firehouse ends up with some hot action between the 2 when they get home.
I love Julie's writing and the Stark world and every one of her books are just so hot to read and makes you want the books to never end!
Quick, quick read. This is the third book I’ve read in the Masters and Mercenaries crossover collection, and it is the shortest, thus far. The story did not suffer for its brevity, though who wouldn’t want every story they read to be full-length? I’m a pretty greedy reader, and I always want more of the books I enjoy and this fit that bill.
Justify Me is listed as book 4.5 in J. Kenner’s Stark Trilogy (wait, aren’t trilogies supposed to be three books long?), and, like the other books in this crossover collection, occurs along the same timeline as Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series book 16. Justify Me can be read as a standalone from all other series it’s involved in. Justify Me is written in two different voices, Natasha’s chapters are written in first-person, and Riley’s are in third-person semi-omniscient.
Justify Me moves fast. There isn’t much time to really settle into a comfortable rhythm of reading because something is always happening. There are no lulls in the action or the forward movement of the relationship. Thankfully there weren’t so many moving parts to keep track of. It was great pacing for the style of novel.
Much of Natasha and Riley’s connection is predicated on their past. I’m glad we got to know the broad strokes because it made their connection much more understandable. Had this been a full-length novel, I’m sure I would have appreciated all they’d been through more, but as is I knew enough to love them together and be happy they’d finally moved past their history and gave in to the connection they always felt.
My biggest issue with this book was a glaring continuity issue. At one point, Riley speaks of how Big Tag (Ian Taggart) went above his expectations to set up a meeting with the head of security for a club Riley wanted more info on, then a few chapters later Big Tag calls him and wants to know why he isn’t on vacation as if he hadn’t just spoken to him a day or two prior. Otherwise, my only wish for the book is that it wasn’t a novella but instead a full-length novel, again, because I’m a greedy reader.
J. Kenner is another author I have just discovered because of this crossover collection. Lexi Blake did an amazing job of finding authors to invite into her world, and I’ve found another author who I’ll be looking at more. The little glimpse into the Stark world made me want to know more, and I’ll be checking out the rest of the not-exactly-a-trilogy trilogy ASAP!
