Originally bought this book for a friend as a birthday gift. As I flipped through, the story was so interesting that I just ended up reading it myself. I am from the same city as the author and I could relate to many of the humorous facts about our "quaint" area that he described. It is an entertaining and quick read.Back in 2000, my friend and I went to Mardi Gras with our husbands as we had done for many years prior. We took some awesome photos alongside the two Wienermobiles that were parked in our hotel parking lot in Metairie. Lo and behold, I believe this was also the same year that the author was at that hotel and one of those Wienermobiles was his. Wish we knew you needed a ride downtown, Dave. We had a place you could have hung out with us on St. Charles Ave. that had a BATHROOM! Anyway, we still cherish our Wienermobile photos and the handful of Wiener Whistles the crew gave us when we saw them during breakfast at the hotel. Thanks for this fun story.

What do you do when you are about to graduate from college and have no idea what to do? Panic? Move in with your parents? Or grab the keys to a giant hot dog and take off across the country! For everyone who struggled to find their way, David reminds us not to miss out on the fun along the way, and not to settle for the "just OK." A great read from a promising new author juxtaposing the struggles of a generation searching for a meaningful career with the building of the Oscar Mayer processed meat empire- love it!
Absolutely fascinating (& hilarious) A sweet little driver was asked by my wife if it was hard driving it & she said "somewhat;but, you gotta watch you Buns!!"
Everything you wanted to know about the Wienermobile, but were afraid to ask. Very enjoyable read. You will relish reading about the pickles (sorry) Dave finds himself in on his year long journey inside the famous car. Forget the Batmobile this is the car you want to know about.
A wonderful slice of life story. Dave tells about his year driving the Weinermobile across parts of the U.S. and Europe, after he graduated college. He also give you the history of Oscar Mayer and the Weinermobile. It is a quick read but so enjoyable.
After seeing the Weinermobile come to my town, I have since wondered what it would be like to drive one around. Well, this book tells the tale of the twists and turns, ups and downs, of a year driving the Weinermobile. Dave Ihlenfeld does a great job detailing the process of joining the ranks of the Weinermobile drivers, the highs and lows of touring the country in these so-called vehicles, all the while giving some interesting history of Oscar Meyer's most recognizable icon and some fun personal stories and adventures as well!
A fun and easy read. I highly recommend this book!
Fun book
Being a fan of the wienermobile, I had to read this book. I found it very informative and a lot of fun to read. What I wasn't expecting, was the witty humor Ihlenfeld used to describe many of the situations they encountered during their travels. If you want to know what life is like on the road with Oscar Mayer, this book is for you!
